LEARN ENGLISH COUNTABLE ABSTRACT NOUNS
Abstract nouns name feelings, thoughts, etc. In other words, they name "entities"
that cannot be perceived by our senses.
There is a mixture of cultures. (Hay una mezcla de culturas)
In this example, the noun "cultures" cannot be perceived by our senses, that is why it is an abstract noun, it names something you cannot touch. However, in this example, the abstract noun "cultures" is in its plural form, so it is countable. We have said that an abstract noun can be a countable noun and this is true in some cases although the majority of abstract nouns are uncountable. | |||||
