LEARN ENGLISH FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE VERBS

To form the future perfect simple tense we need to use the future simple tense of the verb "to have" and the past participle of another verb. To form the past participle of the regular verbs, we need to add "-ed" to the verb.

Example

Tomorrow we will have studied the future perfect simple. (Mañana habremos estudiado el futuro perfecto simple)

Some verbs have spelling changes when adding "-ed".

Example If the verb ends in "-e", we only add "-d" to form the past participle.

They finish their work. (Terminan su trabajo)

They will have finished their work. (Habrán terminado su trabajo)

If the verb consists of only one syllable and the last three letters are: consonant plus vowel plus consonant, we will double the last consonant and then add "-ed".

The police stop the car. (La policía para el coche)

The police will have stopped the car. (La policía habrá parado el coche)

*Note: there are many verbs whose past participle forms are irregular and you need to study them by heart, as they do not follow the above-mentioned rule.

Example

Tomorrow we will have read all about the future perfect simple. (Mañana habremos leído todo sobre el futuro perfecto simple)

For the negative form we use "not" after "will".

Example

He will not (won't) have finished his work. (No habrá terminado su trabajo)

For the interrogative form we place "will" in front of the person.

Example

Will he have finished his work? (¿Habrá terminado su trabajo?)

SOME GENERAL USES

We use the future perfect simple to express finished actions in the future when we know the time when the action will happen and we are certain that the action will happen.

Example

Tomorrow I will have finished this project. (Mañana habré terminado este proyecto)

You will have studied the future perfect simple tense by Thursday. (Habrás estudiado el futuro perfecto simple para el jueves)

They will have studied all the topics. (Habrán estudiado todos los temas)

The future perfect simple is also used when the speaker assumes that an action will be completed in the future.

Example

She will have finished all her homework by now. (Ella habrá terminado todos sus deberes ya)

My team will have presented the project. (Mi equipo habrá presentado el proyecto)

The concert will have finished by the time we arrive.(El concierto habrá terminado cuando lleguemos)
