LEARN SPANISH DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVES

We use the demonstrative adjectives ESTE (this), ESE (that), ESTAS (these)... to draw attention to particular people, objects, animals, events, etc. They help us to locate the noun they go with in relation to the speaker in space or time in the moment of speaking. When we learn Spanish demonstrative adjectives, we need to remember that in Spanish we distinguish between masculine and feminine, singular and plural in the nouns. In that way we have:

Close to the speaker:

Singular

Plural

Masculine este (this) estos (these)
Feminine esta (this) estas (these)

Further from the speaker:

Singular

Plural

Masculine ese (that) esos (those)
Feminine esa (that) esas (those)

Even further from the speaker:

Singular

Plural

Masculine aquel (that) aquellos (those)
Feminine aquella (that) aquellas (those)
